Way to be, Jennifer. Way to be.

I've been struggling with something lately, and I think you all could give me some advice? Sometimes, when people are complaining, I want to tell them, "Don't worry, I'm Jesus, so the Lord is with you and 'sall good." But I'm not sure if I'm supposed to start telling people that I'm Jesus or not yet. Am I supposed to wait until I'm 30, like Jesus did? It's kind of like coming out of the closet, you know? Maybe I'll get into politics and become president of the United States and when I retire I'll become a priest and then I'll be the first woman president, the first woman priest, Jesus, and the hottest girl alive. 'Kay, thanks for the help, guys.

Dude, I want to go to Eau Claire, too! (maybe, I'm not real sure yet) Maybe Eric and I can go to college together, ;D

Ryan: Thanks, but I have in fact written much large loads of crap than that. Like that one time when I was telling Andy that a gram equaled a cubic millimeter, haha. But, yeah...thanks for putting up an away message so we can't talk any more, :P I dunno, maybe it's the way I am, but I've always had a problem with the word 'obedience'. I mean, when I'm stage-managing it up, I don't expect my crew to follow me mindlessly.....they know reasons for what they're doing. But I consistently find that when I ask them to do something, they find better ways to do it and pleasantly surprise me. I guess my whole point boiled down to.....one point....is that you can't make an order an expect all 1 billion Catholics to be able to follow it. That doesn't make any sense. Not everyone can possibly do everything the same way. You do what you can. The commission isn't out of line - we haven't done anything yet! Annnnnnnd, back to government (oh wait, can't go 'back' as I haven't STARTED yet.) As we're all Christian, Lindsey has suggested praying for a snow day tomorrow.

WELCOME ERIC!!!!! THE JEEBUS BLOG IS GROWING!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH my day sucked too and that lock down didn't make anything better.

Jackie: THAT IS THE BIGGEST LOAD OF CRAP I HAVE EVER SEEN YOU WRITE!!!!!! Usually you sway me somewhat to your side of an issue.

So let me get this straight, your saying its ok to change things when you feel its justified. Um...............Ok!! WhatEVER!!!!!!
"He expects those churches to make decisions to make their churches do what they're supposed to as much as they can whilst accomodating their parishoners. We're not saying he's wrong - we're saying it doesn't work for us" Quote on Quote.

While we are knitt picking, let's continue. The Bishops don't get these ideas miracoulsly, people from all over suggest these so called spiritual techniques. WHY DO WE KEEP ON GOING INTO BISHOPS MOLESTING CHILDREN!!!!!! Have I mentioned anything of the sort and I don't have any idea how this has anything to do with our conversation. Let's pretend for the moment, that all of that never happend. One thing about bein catholic is obediance. Second, we rely on guidance from our bishops and other administrative minds who spend their whole lives improving the mass. You keep on going into the topic of how our bishops are evil. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE!!!!!!!! If that were the case, i would be a different religion. There are many awesome bishops like Bishop Mornea etc.

Also, with the whole discussion talking about the worship commission. Um, Ok yeah. I understand that. What i was saying that when the superior gives an order, the commision has no place to discuss the topic. Their place is to implement and discuss means of improvement of the cause.

Again, I'll repeat this. How many changes are we going to make to fit our so called "special" needs to get us so far away from the universal church that we might as well call ourselves protestants because in essence, that is what the commision is doing?

I stand by statement that I am trusting the pope and his bishops to give us orders to keep this church universal. I don't care what their past was or what the decision is. This is the way the Catholic Church is and the commission is out of line!

Well, if nothing else, you can eat out of the vending machines. That's what I do during musical week, ^_~ You could eat out of that new vending machine that Jennifer and I were staring at the other day - it's like, the ultimate vending machine. The little revolving multi-layered trays with goodness like Lunchables on it. Or you could always stick a Slim Jim in your back pocket or something. Sorry you had a bad day, Eric. But I'm glad the blog made you feel better, ;D I'm feeling a little less stressed after finishing my chemistry homework, more or less. Tomorrow's Friday! Yay!

You said you weren't talking about civil affairs in the Catholic Church, but the Mass. The definition of civil would be "of, relating to, or befitting a citizen or citizens". And I'm pretty sure that Mass would be number one on the list of things relating to Catholic citizens. People aren't saying what the bishop tells us is wrong - we're saying it isn't possible or reasonable for us to comply at our certain parish. How long would it take a priest to fill 16 bowls and 16 cups? If you went to a small church in Arizona where the priest filled four cups, I think you could handle it, Ryan. You said the commission's purpose is to carry out church orders and that's it. And I would have to heavily disagree with you there, Ryan. The majority of the things we discuss at Worship Commission have nothing to do with the Bishop. The Bishop did not tell us to start Taize Prayer. The Bishop did not tell us to start having Youth Masses. The Bishop did not tell us to make New Life or a children's choir. The Bishop did not tell us to decorate our church beautifully. The purpose of the Worship Commission is to make full, conscious, and active participation both in the celebration of Eucharist and bringing Christ into the world. That's an exact quote. We just revised our goals, and tasks, and none of these things were mandated by the Bishop. The commission's purpose is not simply to carry out church orders. Our purpose is to make participation in mass as active was we can. You said, "To be deciding whether or not we want to do what the bishops is wrong in this church!!!!" It is not wrong. Bishops in the past have molested young boys and have requested large amounts of money to forgive people's sins - Bishops are not designated to their positions by God, and even if they were, they're still human. They can't issue a rule making it perfect for every church in the diocese. He expects those churches to make decisions to make their churches do what they're supposed to as much as they can whilst accomodating their parishoners. We're not saying he's wrong - we're saying it doesn't work for us. THE END.

Homework sucks and I want to crawl in my bed and stay there forever. ;_; I wish I could have gone to The Quest, but I didn't get home until 7:15, so....meh. I hate homework and I hate school.

Also, please note: Jennifers, since I forgot to retell Jennifer to make her username something other than Jennifer, you guys will have to specify which Jennifer you are in your posts, as otherwise it will be impossible to tell. And you guys know that I'm Jackie, right? Look at the little box on the side that says "Jesus Freaks", it says who everyone is.

Ok, everybody, I would like to continue my written arguement. I'll try to keep it brief. First for a written rebuttal on Jackies response. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH QUESTIONING THE CHURCH. What I'm saying though, is have to do this universally. Which means either signing a petition with other churchs and resisting the decision. However, Boycotting and going against church doctrine because we just don't want too is Herecy. Also Jackie, I'm not talking about anything else other than the mass and I'm going to get into as of yet. Tradition in my opinnion is the basis as to why I'm catholic along with many others. When I go to Florida or Arizona, I don't want a mass that is messed up and different from the rest. What nativity special going against bishops who spend their lives working at the mass. I made a mistake in talking about the questioning of the bishops. I meant by us completly defying their orders. However, I'm not against fighting these directions. Explaining why we believe these directions suck is one thing, but clearly not doing it because we don't want to is crap. I will be very upset with the commission if it decides not to do this. THIS IS CATHOLIC CHURCH WHIch is uniVERsAL!!!!!

Now next question which is about the bishops. Jackie, I was not even talking about civil affairs in the Catholic Church. I was strictly in the spectrum of the Mass. All i was saying that if we have these guys in power and keep them in a place of authority, lets listen to keep it universal.

Lastly, You should know me well- enough that if something is crap, you need to stand up against it. How the church handled abuse and other issues was horrible. QUESTION EVERYTHING YES. Ex. woman going into the priesthood. Our generation will fight this foolish mandate. Today!!!

However, To be deciding whether or not we want to do what the bishops (our leaders) is wrong in this church!!!!! If you want to make a statement, why don't you sign a petition. The commission's purpose is to carry out church orders. THAT's IT!!!!

So, we can welcome Eric to the Jeebus blog. I've sent an email to Teryn, too. And reinvited the youth minister, as I think I sent it to the wrong email address (AGAIN). Again, if you guys are wondering who's posting what, look for the name (it says wrote (username)) at the end of each post....and then on the left side of the page, I've conveniently made a list of everyone who's part of the blog, and their alias. It shouldn't be that hard....

Ryan, I don't see why you're so dead-set against tradition. I don't know what you meant about the communion thing....but we can't mindlessly follow orders - as Catholics we're supposed to question and challenge things, and if rules can't be met, you do the best you can, and do what's best for people. I honestly don't think it matters who fills the plates or stuff like that...what matters is that we're Catholic and we're celebrating God. It's not acceptable to question direct orders from the Bishop. Weren't you the one who had a problem with Bishop Banks because of direct orders he gave to cover up priests who sexually molested little boys? Yeah, I would say it's good to challenge people, especially those with influence, ^_~ I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Eucharist will be Jesus no matter if Father Jim or Deacon Manny or Carrie or I place them into a plate. The wine will still be the Blood. Tradition isn't necessarily evil, :P

That sounds like a nice name. It's one syllable, has a nice ring to it, quick and easy to say. Etc. Mystic, (referring back to the tradition thing), I'm having a difficult time understanding your reasoning. Don't tell me that larger churches (bigger than ours) have not been using that particular method for distributing communion. Tradition is only important if were dealing with the entire church, not just our small parish. How many alterations can we make against the universal church because we're so large? 1, 5, 10 or more. We might as well call ourselves "Nativity of Our Lord Protestant Catholic Church." It is absolutely unnaccpetable to be questioning direct orders from the Bishops because that is one of the requirements of the Catholic Church. It doesn't matter how practical a thing is. The question is: Will we be able to do it? Answer: YES!!. Tradition is fine outside of mass.

hey everyone i was thinking about my confirmation name and i was thinking Dawn...a new beginning and going to spread my light to the world. What do you guys think? (I am having trouble finding a good name so any suggestions might be helpful!)

posted by Jenny at 9:32 PM

Well, that's not entirely fair....Nativity is part of a universal church, but just like the universal church, it's also full of tradition. For example, the GIRM might say only the priest can fill cups and bowls at Communion time. With a church of Nativity's size, this is simply not practical, as there are like, 16 of each or however many it is. Sometimes it's necessary and good to change, but you do have to keep the interests of those you are making decisions for in mind as well. ^_~ Tradition is not necessarily 'just an excuse': althought it can sometimes be used an excuse, I think tradition can be healthy and good, too.

posted by mystickeeper at 4:57 PM

Ok, this is pure crap!!! I being once on the commission also had to deal with this so-called "tradition" excuse. Yes, Jackie, I will keep you in my prayers. In my prayers that the commission won't kill each other. Tradition is just an excuse not to make change. Nativity is a Roman Catholic Church which is Universal. Nativity needs to keep up with the times. AMEN

Email from Wayne Efferson: Just a quick note to tell you that Bishop Banks has contacted all parishes with the new Norms for the General Instruction for the Roman Missal (GIRM).

What does this mean? The GIRM is something coming down from all the bishop to all the churches telling us the correct way to do things. Because our parish is so large and full of tradition, sometimes it isn't possible to follow how the church wants us to do things, so we break away in ways (ie: standing for before the 'Great Amen' during mass). Which basically means everybody argues about how to do everything because lots of people want to follow the bishops and lots of people want what's best for our parish. And since I'm on the Worship Commission and will probably be a part of all this, I might ask you guys to pray for me/the commission when we have our meetings....because we will need it. So....now you can all feel cool 'cause you know what the GIRM (pronounced 'GERM') is. Yay.

I knew anything what you were talking about or read your post, I'd probably argue with you. But, I didn't. So....You know, sometimes I struggle with being a blog administrator. I have the power to edit every post one of you fools make, I can make the rest of you administrators, I could kick you out of the blog, etc. And the comment deal, too. I could ban your IP address or delete your comments. So why do I struggle with my power? I always have this insane urge to correct other people's spelling. But I usually don't. And I usually don't edit posts unless somebody drops an F-bomb or something....but I don't think we have to worry about it. I think that even though everybody read To Kill A Mockingbird for English, they should read it again. Because it's a very good book, and very Jesus-y, in my mind.

Blogger-Pro? No. It would not make blogging any easier. The only difference it would make to this blog in particular is that it would take the strip of advertisement off the top of the page. $35 a month is way too much to pay for Blogger Pro, and I have this...thing against paying for things on the internet, unless you buy your own domain (ie: JeebusFreaks.com). Blogger Pro is cool because it has a spell-checker, you can put titles at the top of each post, and if something happens to the Blogger server, people who use Blogger Pro can post to their blogs whilst us poor fools who don't have Blogger Pro can't. But....it still isn't worth it. If the advertisements are really that much of a problem, I could always move the page to a Geocities site, thus taking it off Blogspot, but then there'd still be a little box of ads. And to get Blogger Pro, I think we'd have to get it under my name, since I'm the administrator. And while that would be cool (as it would carry over to all my other blogs), I say nay. Teh end. ;D

Today is Sunday January 26,2003
The issue that has ticked Me off is: State Deficits and how it will hurt our health care system.

I'm sorry but its little too late for state governemts to start talking about taking away funding to health care. Let's start from the beginning shall we. First the Feds started the Embla Cobra law stating that Hospitals could not deny care to patients (which is full of crap because most "honest" organizations always provided care to their patients and the other fact that these organizations are BUSINESSES). If state govt decides to cut medicare/aid, it will do more harm than good to the shaky financial situation to healthcare providers. So let's put this into perspective shall we: You force businesses to treat non-paying customers and not help the health care center out. Give me a break.

Here's my conservative point! I don't think it is the govts. place to mandate any type legislation if it isn't going to help them out financially. In fact i think the govt should stay out of the affairs of all health care institutions and allow the healthcare institions make its own decisions. There are plenty of independant organizations that regulate our health care institutions.

You know, if you really wanted to save money, why don't you regulate the partisipants of the medicare program. Did you know that medicare patients can partisipate in a very expensive procedure that rarely works. Yeah, bariatric procedures (stomach stapleing, where they could just go running outside) and abortions are covered by this. Why don't we cut payment to those of few procedures.

Now, I will either have full agreement or the opposite. I'm not saying that we should forget the poor, but i'm saying it's not the govt. responsiblity to tell them what to do. Do you think a Christion health care providor would turn away patients. NO!

Ok, call me silly if you must but S. Korea is making me angry. You know if the United States leaves, N korea will invade you in a blink of an eye. It is so stupid that they're booing soldiers like my aunt who risks her life everyday to protect these ungracious people. I think we should leave and cease contact with both parties. I didn't mean to call you a coward, Ryan. I just meant that if all you really fear is God, then there is no need for war. Ever. And....good gosh, Ryan, don't you ever go to bed?? Get some sleep! Yeah, I know the Catholic Church believes in "just war" - Jennifer explained it to us at The Quest one time in the summer. But that doesn't mean I believe in it... :P I dunno, it's all a bunch of crap, and I don't want us to go to war - does that mean all my guy-friends would go to war? Or can they use education as an excuse? Couldn't you do that in one of the world wars or something? If you're going to college, you don't have to go to war? So all these guys never graduated 'cause they didn't want to go? I'm not sure.

But I do have a story from the other night before The Quest. I was sitting on the floor putting my boots on, and out of nowhere, asked my dad,
"Dad, what would you do if I became the first woman priest?"
"......."
"Would you do anything?"
"No, I don't think I'd do anything."
"Would you think anything?"
"I don't think you're cut out to be a woman priest."
*becomes indignant* "Why not?!"
"Because you're too opinionated on too many things."
"What, priests can't be opinionated?"
"Well, you feel too strongly about abortion."
"Dad, the whole Catholic Church has a strong opinion on abortion."
"No, they don't. You can't say that - you have to have tolerance for other people's beliefs (my dad likes telling me this line a lot, even though he's sexist and racist). A lot of people in this country believe in abortion."
"Well, fine. But the pope doesn't. And I would rather respect a person's life than their opinion." *leaves*

Yeah. Bunch of crap, >O

Yeah well, I guess I fear God the most and terrorist masterminds who want us to die a horrible death for the sake of making a point. We have a right to protect ourselves as soverign nation. The Catholic Church believes that if there is "just cause" that it is acceptable. This morning at 4:00 am, people are threatening us with more destruction.
IF there is "JUST CAUSE" then yes JACKIE, we need to go!!!! If there isn't (no proof is shown on monday at the UN by HANS BABIE) then we need to pack our bags and go home.

I was waiting for you to bring this up again, Ryan....when we had the retreat at St. Norbert's, you were trying to tell me that we shouldn't be afraid. You gestured to your 'Jesus Freaks: Volume II' book by dc Talk and told me, 'Fear God, not man', which is like, the main quote of the book. And when I got home that night I was thinking for a while, and that didn't make sense to me. If you're fearing God and not man, then why go to war with Iraq only because you're afraid of something that might happen? It didn't make much sense to me...yeah, I don't really believe war is ever justified. I've always been kind of torn on war, though...Part of me thinks it's all cool and I want a sword and I'll go kick some butt...I think I could actually kill somebody. But, I wouldn't. 'Cause killing is crap. I don't really see the point of war. Two groups disagree. They give a bunch of guys guns and bombs and vehicles and they run around kill each other. And then whoever wins, wins the argument. It's just an idiotic way to solve a problem. No, Bush won't sit around and wait for us to get nuked, but if he actually sat down and thought about what Jesus would do, well, I think he might change his mind (Bush being an obvious Christian man, I mean heck, he wants 'under God' to be kept in the Pledge of Allegiance, so naturally, everyone who's Christian will vote for him again!). Yeah. I'm done.

IS THE UNITED STATES JUSTIFIED IN GOING TO WAR WITH IRAQ?
First Daily (I mean whenever something in the world ticks me off) Editorial.

ANSWER: I honestly for the first time don't know!! Wow, I admit it, I'm no longer convinced that we should be fighting in this war because we just haven't seen the evidence that he's a threat to the safety and the well-being to United States and the free world. President Bush just isn't doing enough to convince our allies and his own people that spending billions of dollors on a project that will more or less harm the existance of others. This monday, Bushie needs to show intelligance on proof that Iraq is in violation of the UN resolution (s).

However, I will be very clear on my position............ If the United States can prove that Iraq is a threat to the National Security of the U.S. and that Iraq would have the capabilities of killing American citizens. Then WAR IS JUSTIFIED. If this criteria is not met then there is no point in wasting our time and going to war.

I still believe that the United States should listen to our allies and stop exerting so much power. I believe that we should still have the strongest military as a show of deterance. However, we should completley Isolate ourselves and only engage in military action if the United States is under attack. That's It. No UN peacekeeping missions or liberation assistance etc. We should worry about the economy and other domestic issues. Then put a massive blocade all over our borders to prevent intrusion. AMEN!

Is it jesusie.............Um NO, But it would keep us safe.

Jesus made it possible for me to have A-lunch, so I think we should all thank him for that, as Jackie doesn't act very Jesus-like when she's hungry. So now I'll be able to be Jesus-like all day (hah!) And....I don't think Jesus had much to do with creating classes like Life's Issues or Chemistry. I'm thinking that was more of the Devil.

So, I'm working on adding a comment system. And then you can click 'comment' and add comments about other peoples' posts and it will be lovely. And I'm working on inviting more people, don't worry, :)

Jesus Story #1: In Which This Blog Was Created
So, one night at The Quest, Heather said it would be cool to have a blog to record what we do each week at our youth group. I became very excited, but decided to wait a week or two before I did anything (mostly because we had finals). Today I was in my car, and for whatever reason, decided to make this blog a group blog. And since Jesus-related things are not only limited to The Quest, this blog won't be either. It's for anything faith-related....if you get a 100% on a test and think it was God Himself that made that happen, then go ahead and share it here. If your dog dies and you're struggling with it, share it here, too. If you don't understand what the church teaches about homosexuality or why we believe the Eucharist is the Body of Christ, then ask here. This blog can be whatever you want it to be. And more people will be invited, don't worry, ^_~ So, here is the beginning of what will hopefully be a very successful Jeebus Blog.

Also note: I don't really like the background at the moment, but I just wanted to get the page up. I'll change it soon, don't worry.
