I haven't been back here in forever! But now I am, so all is well. ;-) Tomorrow night you should all come to mass at 5, I'm lectoring and Jackie and Heather (right?) and a bunch of other people are coming, and there's that party thing for Father John after. We need to get him something! Any ideas? If you have any just go for it. ^_^ Aw, I'm really going to miss him a lot. Meh.
Night (and yes I actually am going to bed) God bless you! I hope life is going great for you all, I love you
Tonight, I went to a Building Update meeting. I got an invitation because I'm on a commission, I think. I'm not sure. But anyway, I just wanted to say to all of the non-seniors that you better pay attention to that stuff, and go to meetings. Right now, a top priority is new youth space. This would include our own bathrooms (and possibly showers), a large multi-purpose space, an area with a kitchen, smaller meeting rooms, and an office for a youth minister. That's lots of stuff, and parts of it might get cut if you guys aren't advocating for it. These building projects are going to be costing lots of money - about 2 million if we do everything we want to right now. So, yeah. I just wanted to say that. I'm sure I'll have more to say after tomorrow night's budget meeting, ^_~
that noah's ark thing reminded me about this show i saw on pbs a few weeks ago about the shroud of turin (i don't really know how to spell that!). Anyway, that is that piece of cloth that is believed to have been wrapped around Jesus's body when he was laid in the tomb. And there were all of these theories about this piece of cloth with a faint image of a man's body on it....whether it is authentic or if it is a fake relic. Carbon dating placed it in the middle ages, but then there is the fact that the piece of cloth tested came from a corner...the place where it would have been held up to show to crowds during the middle ages. So the carbon dating might not really be accurate, it might be picking up stuff from much later. Then there was all this other evidence, like the weave of the cloth was like that during Jesus' time, and when they shine a certain kind of light on it, it reveals a detailed bone structure that is actually in the cloth, not just on the surface. They said that came from when he was resurrected through it!! That was an interesting part. There were also stains they believed to be His blood from the crown of thorns. But then there was this other guy who said it was really just like a "photograph", done by treating the cloth with a certain photosensitive chemical and then projecting the image of a man onto it for a few hours. Anyway, it was this really interesting show and i wish i had taped it to show you all... my explanation probably doesn't make that much sense. maybe they will replay it someday...i would definitely watch it again!
And on a lighter note, the noah's ark thing also made me think of a fun summer activity for all of us...road trip to the waterpark at wisconsin dells! I don't know if this is really feasible or not, but it sounds like lots of fun!
Oh, and I forgot to mention to you all....at New Life this Sunday, it was just me, Kristy, and Betsy. And I know you guys were busy, that's fine. I'm just supposed to pass the word on that we all really need to be there to practice since there's only two weeks until the mass. We're not really doing much for Youth Liturgy, but New Life needs work.
In other news. I was looking at the bulletin from a couple weeks ago, and found something Carrie wrote in the Youth Ministry column that I liked, so I'll retype it here for you all. Dr. Albert Schweitzer said it so well, "Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light." ... Rekindling someone's flame is an important task we perform, for few of us can go it all alone. The greatest weapon against darkness is, and always has been, light. Even one small light is stronger than the darkness.
Bum bum bum. Just thought I'd post in here and say "hi" to everyone. :D For those of you who weren't there at YL on Sunday, I (we) missed you!! ^.^ And Carrie, too, of course. =)
By the way, I know now that Jackie doesn't, but I s'pose I'll ask again....does anyone else have B lunch? ^-^
I don't know, I just think that the Pope is of sound mind. His past record showed him as an open and less restrictive man. I the church would make a resolution stating that you can be a pope for so long or something.
The church continues to smite itself and I don't understand why? I'm reading a book called "Why am I Catholic?" The author talks about journey of becoming a Jesuit. He told how lay people are sometimes more qualified to teach theology then most priests. I reccomend that al of you read it.
Again, the question should be and always should have been "What would Jesu Do? "
Click here and read all about Catholics getting together and instead of banning together, telling each other that they're not really Catholics. Also, feel free to this gem released by the Pope, in which he says girls shouldn't be altar servers and that homilies should never be delivered by laypersons (us).
I'm not sure if you all got the email or not, but yes, we're still having Youth Liturgy on Sunday. Shane's mom will be there. But if you can't come because of Mother's Day, the email Carrie to let her know.
And unfortunately, I have A lunch. Who the hell eats lunch at 11:00 in the morning? That's what I'd like to know.
wow...there are so many new people in here! I neglect it for a couple of days and then come back and...wow!! Anyway, I have figured out that I won't be at any more youth lit meetings this year! And that means I won't be at any ever again!! (oh, wait, i can come back and visit. But you know what I mean) I'm in madison this sunday, then dance competition the next week, and then marquette pom tryouts the week after that. AHHHHH! So i suppose i will have to get the scoop on the mass before we start that day. All right, i don't have much else to say. Have fun in Australia Carrie!
Jackie told me to write in here again, but I still don't know what to say. Hmm, well, I recently gave my two-week notice and have felt much peace from my decision. Maybe it was what God wanted me to do because I wasn't feeling right about the things that were happening at work. The only problem now is that I have to find a new job for summer. I hope God helps me with that too. If anyone has any ideas about jobs let me know. Lol, I had a eye doctor appointment today at 12:30 and I was done by 12:35, so now I am home eating ramen noodles and typing in here. I'm not sure I want to go back, but I can't miss the tornado drill or I won't know what to do when there really is one in the 34 days of school left! I might wander too closely to a wide window and get sucked out because I wouldn't be sure where to go. Yum, I'm going to finish my noodles and then go drive around and make my way back to school. Tomorrow is Friday! Hope everyone has a good day and Jesus is guiding them to quit their jobs too so we can all be in the same boat, heehee.
<3, Kristy
Thank you for the tip, Jackie! =) I need to go learn html before I can edit the template, but I can find time for that soon. n.n I was just wondering how you put a profile and a comment system in and everything, but I suppose I'll figure that out as I go (when I learn html, of course). ^^ The URL to my blog is:
http://palletteofstars.blogspot.com
I would be very grateful to any tips you (and everyone else) can give me. Thank you!!
Well, anyway. I guess there's not much else to write. This is a Jesus blog, and I'm not writing about Jesus!! x.x Better posts soon, I promise! I'm painfully new at this, I know :D
Right, then. Now that we have bunches of new people, let me reiterate: To view this webpage, you type in http://highonjesus.blogspot.com It's a lot easier to know what's going on if you view it in webpage format rather than just going to the screen you type posts in and reading other people's posts at the bottom. If you look at the webpage, you'll see lots of neat things conveniently organized into boxes. The most useful thing by far is the thing that says "[#] Jesus Freaks." In this box, everyone's name and alias is listed. I tried to make it clear which Jennifer is which. Also, if you feel like talking to just one person, you can click on the person's name and write them an email.
Jenny, in order to make your blog pretty, you would have to click the "template" tab at the top of the screen in which you write posts and then alter the html. Or you could just pick a whole new template. I'd be happy to look at your blog, and I can make a link to it on the sidebar (do any of the rest of you have blogs that aren't already on the sidebar?), but I don't think you wrote what the URL was. Just click "View Blog" and then you should know what it is.
In other news, Taize Prayer is at church at 6:15 tomorrow (Wednesday), if anyone would like to go. It's in the chapel at church, and it's very relaxing. So, anyway. I just finished reading a book and then I almost felt like maybe it's okay if a girl who was like, 16 realized she made a mistake and decided to get an abortion. What the heck! Abortion is one of few political stances that I feel passionate about so how does one book make me waver?? I don't know.
Hi. This is my first post in this blog . . . and I don't know what to write. Jackie will be happy I wrote at all. Maybe something will come to me later. Oh~ the Cancer Walk t-shirts are ordered! Everyone needs to see a Student Council Representative to sign-up for the walk. Jesus would want you too!
Hi, everyone! So, I finally have a blog now! Which is all cool and stuff. n.n Except I'm horrible with computers, and I can't figure out how to do anything but post...can someone tell me how to make it all pretty, with a profile and stuff? Thank you so much!! ^-^
Oh, and I had the mistaken impression my username was going to be the name of my blog, which is why it's all weird. In case you were wondering. ^-^;;
I'll see you all.......at school! Thanks for the blog invitation =<3
I was instructed by the mystical J Ho to write in the blog so here I am. I'm writing in the blog! First of all, Ash! congratulations on your Catholic sucess! Welcome aboard HO!
Next: I'm reading a book called "Why am I Catholic" by Mr. Gary Walls. I'm very pleased about the book and it is showing me the negative and positive things about Catholicism. The church is both beutiful yet corrupt. The church has to prepare to adapt and the meet the modern needs of its people. Conservative traditional values such as reverance, obediance, and other things. Yet equality such as allowing women play the role of a priest. The book highlights the saying" WWJD" (What Would Jesus Do?" I suggest all of you read this book and I would be happy to lend it to any of you J HO's (after Carrie of course). You probably should read Papal Sin first though because as I'm figuring out, this is a second book of his.
Lastly: I purchased the "Passion of the CHrist" Cd and fell in love with it. It is the only CD that ever brought me to tears before I went to work. Yes, I know this is unusual for muah but hey, the music stirs A LOT of emotion.
All of this stuff has began to brew my head in thought. From Homeosexuals to woman taking the role of priests, the questions again comes into mind! Are religions really following under the leadership of the ever living Jesus Christ? Is war ever justified? Would Jesus activily encourage leaders to pass laws banning homesexual marriages? Does Jesus ever say these actions are impure and illegal? Does he consider our lifestyles as pathetic? Does Jesus not accept woman as acceptable leaders of his church? What is missing? What would JESUS DO?
Yay for Forensics!! And I'm soooo excited for you too, the Vigil will be wonderful. It always is, but it'll be quadruply wonderful this year because we get to be your family for such an awesome thing for you. ^_^ I love you too dear! I'll see you soon!
