yes, jackie told me to come write in here too. I hope this gets going again and that the people in green bay write something!!! I want to hear how things are going!
On sunday it was my first mass serving as a eucharistic minister! It was very exciting, I think it's something i've wanted to do since I was little. It was just a little cozy mass in one of the chapels but it was still awesome...I did the cup and the priest took care of the host. I got trained to be a lector too, but I haven't done that yet. Woo hoo!
I really love all of the masses here, I think there are about 4 every day of the week! And each one has its own feel to it...there are the ones in Gesu, the big church, where everything is big and beautiful. Then there is the chapel in the union where it just feels cozy and simple and beautiful. There are chapels in almost all the res halls, and i guess the mass in my tower is really awesome and music-filled...it's called the "Holy Hour of Power". And then there is the Joan of Arc chapel, which Marquette brought over from Europe and rebuilt on campus. I haven't been inside yet, but I think I will soon. So, now you know all the places to go to mass here!
woops, gotta go...please write in here everybody!!

I'm sorry it took me so long to write but I wanted to wait until after I tried a couple things at church so I could write about them, and then I was crazy with studying and writing my first paper. I'm scared to see the results of my first quiz, ;_; Anyway, last Thursday the church had free pizza for freshmen, followed by Alpha Omega, the praise and worship youth group thinger. The pizza was fun and the director of liturgy dude was talking to me, asking what I like to do, etc. When I mentioned that I like to write, he asked if I would like to write the petitions for mass. Over the last week we've been emailing back and forth and I'm going to meet with him on Monday to discuss specifics. So that's definitely cool.

Alpha Omega was alright...I don't know how to describe it, it was kind of like going to The Edge at First Assembly (Kyle's church). They do praise and worship music and then have a speaker and then more praise and worship. I really liked it last week, but we'll see how well I like it as time goes on...

On Tuesday I went to the Bible Study they have in our dorm. It....I don't know it really just wasn't what I expected. Like when we had Bible study with Manny, he would explain historical aspects and stuff like that. But at this Bible Study it's all girls my age talking about what they think it means. Which can be good I guess, but I could sit around and do that by myself and probably come up with better answers. And the girls are all....Guys, try to come every week so we can be a FAMILY and families DO THINGS together so we need to hang out on the weekends too! I don't know. It just doesn't seem like....me. And the study sessions are also 90 minutes long, which is longer than any class I have! It seems like a lot to ask to me. And I think they have different views on relationships with God than I do. Because they were talking about how it needs to be all...."personal" and whatever. I voiced my opinion that keeping your faith to yourself is pretty stupid and Jesus would never want that - faith is deepened through helping others. Yeah they didn't really like that that much. So yeah. I feel bad not going back because I haven't really made any friends at college yet.

I don't even know what it is that rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of the church or something. But I'd rather have some kind of youth group where we have time to like, talk about issues instead of just....singing and listening to someone else talk.

I'm home this weekend but I'll be leaving before it's time for Youth Liturgy so I don't think I'll be seeing any of you guys. And a word to you all - it takes a while to make friends at college. At least, it is for me. Meh. You guys need to write in here more, I have no idea what's going on with like, making a youth group or whatever, or even just random things about school. Write, whores. And I miss you all.

I'm glad college is going well for you all, and that you're finding things and meeting people through church. That's one thing that I love so much about the Catholic church... no matter where you go in the world, mass is always the same, just with different people and minor aspects. It's like such a universal and unifying thing that can be powerful and cleansing even if it's in a different language or something. I love that.

Anyway, I'm at school awaiting the confirmation of my AP European History individual class. I need to talk to Mrs. Manning (formerly Mrs. Hubberts) before I can start anything. So here I sit in the library, peaceful and ... kinda bored. Today has been a pretty good day though. It's just so bizarre without you guys... seriously. It's such a weird feeling. It's going to take me a long, long time to get used to it. But oh well, life goes on I suppose. Not a whole lot I can do about it, plus this year will kick butt because I'm finally a SENIOR! Woot. Hi Colin, I love you! :-) I'm going to get going now, talk to you all soon, keep on posting! I love to hear from you.
